Life goes on...

We just got back from our annual St. George trip, where Kaela has a dance competition yearly. We were SO excited to go, a little too excited and on Saturday morning when I got up at 6 AM to get Kaela ready, we realized we forgot the garment bag with her costumes! I could hardly believe it, let alone that I hadn't even realized it until that morning. A private jet would have seriously come in handy!

Kaela was such a good sport about it only commenting "all that hard work for nothing!" We went and cheered on her team, and her teacher was so forgiving. I was so frustrated there but realized that life goes on (I am hoping someone leaves me a comment saying they have done the same thing)!

All things considered we had a wonderful time. Some highlights:

*Dinner at Pasta Factory, although Richard and I had a beam between us!

*Swimmiming, swimming and more swimming in 80 degree weather!

*Hike in Snow Canyon, totally breathtaking and beautiful!

*Richard's DI church clothes (the garment bag had his clothes in it too)

*Spending time with all my family

I really love vacations, even when they are only 3 days!

Next time Lance tries to buy an expensive suit somewhere I am going to have to refer him to this post. Richard looks great and Im sure the price was right! Oh, and a lovely color for spring-yellow. As for the bag and forgetting, I can't say Ive done the same but I will say that every time I leave the house I forget something. If I bring diapers I forget wipes, If I actually remember the sippy cup, its empty. We all do it. You have 4 kids, at least you remembered all of them! Good job!

Kaela learned a great lesson this weekend. Life does go on. I'm glad you had fun anyway. Just think you'll never forget the garment bag on that trip again!

Richard does look great. He is a good sport. He scored a new outfit from the mistake too.

One time I showed up to film some bridals at the Thanksgiving point gardens. I started filming the bridals and about half way into it I realized I had forgotten to re-charge the battery from the last wedding that I had filmed. And at that point I was a long way away from the car to go get my back up battery. (if you know the lower garden area- it is a long walk back to the car if you are towards the far end of the gardens) So
with the little bit of juice left on the battery I filmed as much as I could. The battery ran out completely with about 10 minutes left in the shoot. -Running back to the car, at that point, to get the back up battery (which I wasn't completely sure was charged) would be pointless and embarassing and just cause unnecessary stress for the bride.
So for the last 10 minutes I pretended to be recording with the camera being dead.

I was able to get enough footage to put together a good video, and the bride ended up loving her video- never knowing that I was pretending for the last bit of her shoot. :)

Really, as the mother of 4 small children preparing for vacation, being the one responsible for getting everyone ready, packing, laundry, organizing, etc., etc., etc...aren't we doing good to even get there in the first place? As my mom always said, "I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my body!" Could've been much worse. =)

Hi Joey! That trip looks like so much fun, makes me want to leave town. I had fun at lunch yesterday, thanks for letting us invade. Let's do it again.

Don't feel bad, I really believe that each child takes a little more brain power from you (don't feel bad I have done much worse and I only have 3). I like the point about Kaela still having a good attitude about the whole thing, she is a great kid because I really think I would have been doing a lot of complaining at her age. She must have great parents!

I am so sorry to hear about the garment bag but your daughter sounds like a champ. We need to make sure we are in town next year when you come!

Oh Jo! What luck, what fun. It's all in the chaotic life we lead isn't it. You're great!

I don't have this exact story, but leaving the costumes home is totally something I would do! You just have to roll with it! CUTE family pictures from all your fun activities in St. George!

when i was in Miss M's her own son (you know Tim C.)left his costumes in California and realized it when we got back to St.George where he couldn't perform with us... she was furious, but i thought it was funny. They had to pay tons to have them shipped home! :)

So confession: I've been spying on you from your blog for awhile now. Its always so cute and fun. But I just had to comment on this one. Don't you hate it when you do something so dumb. Oh well, its times like these you'll always remember. Nice tie Richard.
